FORT WORTH, TX - TCU (9-4) is looking to redeem themselves tonight against Oklahoma (6-4), after losing to them earlier this season 82-78 on Dec. 6, 2020. Both teams are 2-3 in the Big 12 conference and looking to add a win.
In their previous matchup Oklahoma outshot TCU 52 percent to 44 percent from the floor. TCU struggled on offense earlier this season, they had issues shooting the ball well and struggled turning the ball over.
The Horned Frogs lost their following game to Providence at home. After that game, TCU turned it around and went on a five-game win streak creating a nice 9-2 record on the season.
TCU is coming off back-to-back losses to two top 10 teams, No. 6 Kansas and No. 2 Baylor. The Horned Frogs took a tough 18 point loss to No. 2 Baylor on Saturday. Their offense in that game had looked the best it had been all season. The 22 turnovers is what made the Horned Frogs come up short to the Bears.
The Sooners are also coming into this game with back-to-back losses as well, both of which to the same teams, Kansas and Baylor. Oklahoma's most recent matchup was a four-point loss to Kansas earlier this week.
The Sooners played well for having multiple players, Brady Manek and Jalen Hill, out due to COVID-19 prodecals. They will also not be playing in tonight's game against TCU.
With those two players being out in tonight’s game, TCU’s biggest threat is Austin Reaves. In their last matchup against each other Reaves had 36 points, six rebounds, and five assists on the Horned Frogs. Reaves is currently averaging 16.3 points per game and shooting 44.9 percent from the floor. TCU will have to create high ball pressure and not let him get any openings to shoot the three or pantrate the basket.
TCU’s star guards, RJ Nembhard and Mike Miles will have to lead this TCU offense like they have been doing all season. These two sharpshooters wil have to produce on offense and make smart decisions with the basketball. TCU can not afford to make any turnovers in tonight's matchup.
The game will be tonight, January 12 at 6:30 p.m.
