TCU moves to 11-9 on the season after disappointing 62-54 loss to Kansas State

FORT WORTH, TX - TCU (11-9) lost a disappointing game this afternoon to Kansas State (6-11). The Horned Frogs could not find rhythm on offense and defense was lackluster the entire game.

The Horned Frogs started and ended this game with bad intensity. The Wildcats lost 13 of their previous games and they were desperate for a win and you could see that in the way they played. They out hustled TCU on both ends of the court, resulting in an eight point win for the Wildcats.

TCU could not get the ball to fall for them tonight. They shot 32 percent from the floor and 22 percent from beyond the arc. TCU’s offense was more widespread than the usual RJ Nembhard show, with that being said Nembhard was still TCU’s highest scorer tonight with 14 points and four rebounds.

Even with TCU not being able to score and being out worked under the basket they still managed to go into the locker room at the half tied at 29.

The second half was the same story, TCU made poor shot selections and gave up 14 turnovers on offense.

Head Coach Jamie Dixon said he didn’t like the shot selections that the guys were taking tonight. They were relying heavily on the three-pointers and they weren’t making them.

Defense was no different. Their lackadaisical effort to guard the Wildcats kept them in the game until five minutes remaining in regulation. Kansas State saw that they were down five points and rallied. The Wildcats went on a 7-0 run with 3.3 minutes remaining giving them a two point lead. TCU continued to miss three-pointers and the Wildcats built an eight point lead to finish out the game.

TCU will be back home on Tuesday, February 23 to host No. 13 West Virginia at 6:00 p.m.

TCU Leaders:

RJ Nembhard had 14 points and 4 rebounds.

Mike Miles had 13 points and 2 rebounds.
